Preparing Pots and Pans for Packing

Packing pots and pans for a moveWhen it comes to moving to a new home, there are several things to consider before you move. Which mover to hire, which supplies to choose, how to organize all of your things and more. Perhaps most important, however, is how to pack all of your belongings. Each room of your house requires different packing techniques and the kitchen is no exception. There are certain ways to pack specific items and that includes kitchen utensils and cookware. Here are some tips to help you prepare your pots and pans for packing!

Packing Pots and Pans For a Move

Pots and pans come in a variety of shapes and sizes which can make them difficult to finagle into restrictive moving boxes. Fortunately, many cooking pots and pans are durable and can be packed without worrying about sustaining damage in transit. Unlike glassware and china, steel or cast-iron pots and pans do not require packing paper in order to avoid chips or dents. However, paper towels or newspaper is recommended use to ensure the cookware does not get jostled during the move. Padding the box with extra packing material also makes them easier to move and carry.

Many standard pots and pans can fit comfortably inside medium or large storage boxes. Three to four average-sized utensils can be placed in the same box while the lids should be placed in another. This allows for more space for cookware items and fewer boxes being used. It also ensures that the glass or plastic lids will not break during the move. Furthermore, Tupperware, eating dishes, silverware, and mixing bowls can fit into small boxes.

Last but not least, you should always make sure to properly label your moving boxes. Labeling each box with even a vague description of what is inside will save you huge amounts of stress later when you start unpacking in your new home.
